Join the Rivers of Carbon team and Aaron Chatfield from Dreamtime Connections for the Yaa River Yerrabi field day along the Yass River. Aaron will take a walk along the river, talking about the ecology, indigenous significance and social importance of rivers. Hear about restoration works underway along the Yass River and what landowners can do to support the river’s health on their properties.
Did you know? Yerrabi (or yerribi ) is the Ngunnawal word for ‘walk’.
Agenda for the day:
- Begin the day with a cultural walk along the river led by Aaron at Dreamtime Connections, looking at Indigenous native plants that have been used for thousands of years and a workshop looking at other plants, traditional tools and bushtucker treats for all to try.
- Hear presentations from a range of river restoration professionals from Rivers of Carbon, Landcare, Waterwatch, Dreamtime Connections and Friends of the Yass Gorge.
- Spend some time exploring an expo with stalls and chatting with experts in river restoration, native vegetation regeneration and Indigenous land management.
Morning tea refreshments and a light lunch will be provided.
